 Daily news from the Canaries and the islands' biggest English language newspaper on-line Bajade de la Virgen Dance of the Dwarves Dance of the dwarves The Bajada de la Virgen de La Palma is one of the most colourful and delightful fiestas in the Canary Islands, but if you haven’t already booked your flight and accommodation you’ll probably have to catch it on local and national television.  La Palma - 05.07.2010 - The weeks’ long fiesta happens just once every five years, and has been marked by civic and religious authorities for over 330 years. Among the events most photographed and anticipated is the Danza de los Enanos (Dance of the Dwarves) which this year takes place on July 15th and 24th. The performance is repeated in the main square (tickets only) many times throughout the evening and then on the streets of the island capital throughout the night.
