Granadilla - 25.11.2004 - According to local education councilor, Florentino de Diego Daz, the municipalitys demands for more schools due to the increasing population, particularly in towns like El Mdano and San Isidro, are being totally ignored by the regional Education councilor, Jos Miguel Ruano, causing families serious problems when trying to get children into their nearest school

Directors of Primary and Secondary schools in Granadilla are seriously worried about how the municipality is going to cope with the rising number of children being registered each year, according to the educators there is not enough places for the 2005 -2006 school year, despite the fact that every year the town hall informs the regional government of the expected the population growth.

The regional government has hit back at these  criticisms by blaming the town hall for the lack of schools. According to the regional education government, the land donated by the town halls for the schools is not adequate.
Granadilla town hall are offering free bus services within the municipality for all those who wish to attend the protest this afternoon at 5pm
