The hurricanes that are hitting the Caribbean are benefiting Canarian tourism.

Horst Körher of top tour operator TUI announced yesterday that in September they had reserved 4,000 more places than a year ago.

Las Palmas - 23.09.2004 - The RIU hotel chain has also announced that their hotels in Gran Canaria are overflowing with tourists diverted from the tropical islands.  In some areas the hotels are registering up to 90 per cent occupation.  Körher agreed that the climatic conditions had affected tourists’ choices but also underlined the improvement in the quality of services in the island as an important factor.
