 Daily news from the Canaries and the islands' biggest English language newspaper on-line Life Skills Schools for health La Orotava schools have agreed to join the Network of Canary Island’s Schools that Promote Health. The network was developed as part of a worldwide project prepared by the European Commission and the World Health Organisation for Europe. The Canary Islands first joined the scheme, which aims to provide information and encouragement to children regarding a healthy lifestyle, in 1997.  La Orotava schools are joining the Schools that Promote Health. The local council will also be providing backing, including the provision of resources and training for teachers. Schools, councils and other organisations involved in the project will work together to ensure the service is as effective as possible and the different areas around the islands will also exchange experiences and knowledge.
