 Daily news from the Canaries and the islands' biggest English language newspaper on-line Canarian employment agency Access and employment The latest project to take people off the dole in Guía de Isora has seen 20 construction workers employed over a six month period working on improving footpaths and public access for those with reduced mobility in the borough.  05.02.2010 - With funding from both the local council and the Canarian Employment agency, the 20 construction specialists are working to upgrade over 50 different pedestrian/street points throughout the borough, to adapt previously inaccessible zones to suit those with mobility difficulties. According to local employment and development councillor Héctor Gómez, “persons with disabilities and/or reduced mobility are still a heterogeneous sector of society”, and have the right to expect the same access conditions as the rest of the population. With this project “as well as giving work to 20 unemployed persons, we are working to upgrade areas in a poor state of repair and create access where previously none existed”.
