At the meeting to display the new plans, held in the town’s cultural centre, were mayor and works’ councillor, José Alberto González Reverón y Ramón García Hernández, as well as the park architect, Francisco Suárez. According to the elected officials work on the park is due to being at the end of July, and should last 12 months.  The cost of the entire project will exceed three million euros, financed by the Local Employment and Sustainability funds.

The new urban park will be 10,000 m2, and the planners have taken heed of the needs of all potential users from every age group in the region.  The mayor said the park, once complete, would be a continuation of his government’s promise to create green zones in every neighbourhood in an effort to improve, “the quality of life in every part of the borough, with green zones, areas for enjoyment, areas that would encourage the development of friendships among neighbours and improve social cohesion”.

Architect Francisco Suárez, said one of the focus points of the new park would be a main square which could be used for events such as fiestas and local celebrations, and would include shaded areas with pergolas as well as a central fountain.  There was also a children’s playground planned with a section specifically designed for the under threes, an exercise zone, a sporting pavilion with circuit zones for training. There would also be a particular area allocated for pets.
