Pamela Geddes is a name to be reckoned with in the trade
Wine22.02.2008 - Well we know that they drink more wine than men do, simply because more men drink beer. We know that women buy more wine than men do, because they do more shopping than men. But apart from drinking and buying the stuff how else do they get involved with wine?

Well it might surprise you to know that a lot of wine is made by women. So lets name a few.
The Bodegas Carballo is in Fuencaliente in La Palma
Wine12.02.2008 - Pingus 2004 red

This is the crme de la crme of Spanish table wine, a well balanced wine but one that is slightly slower to develop then the previous vintage and as such is more closed. Peter Sisseck is the wine maker at this Bodega and he is a firm believer in putting elegance before anything else. He is a young man who was born in Denmark and is hailed as a genius in the vineyard. He has been producing astonishing results in a very short period of time. Yields are very low, the wines are very concentrated, allocation is tiny. The Crianza and Reserva wines are made from ancient Tempranillo vines, and all in all this is probably the best Spanish wine you could buy from the 2004 vintage.
Wine12.02.2008 - Juan Carlos Lpez de Lacalle of Riojas Artadi got 100 points from Robert Parkers Wine Advocate for his Rioja El Pisn 2004. However before you rush out to buy a case or two the wine is very difficult to get hold of and is retailing at about 200 a bottle.

Wine22.12.2007 - I was fortunate to be invited to the Island Connections Christmas Party recently which was held at the Lebanise Restaurant Byblos in Los Cristianos. The food, wine and company were great and it was good to see how the whole team of Island Connections getting on so well together. more...
Vintage Port is a single-vintage wine from the very best years, it spends two years in cask
Wine24.11.2007 - How many times have we heard that phrase, and certainly with Christmas coming up it will be voiced again?

It was once thought that port was invented in the 18th century by English merchants who were looking to replace the French wines that were no longer available to them. It was also thought it was invented by someone adding alcohol to wine to cover up its harsh taste. And there is also a theory that it was invented by the Abbot of Lamego in the Douro valley in 1678.

Wine24.11.2007 - A thirst for knowledge

Just in case some of you would like to read about wine as well as drink it I thought you might like a list of wine books that are in English and that you would be able to buy through Amazon. The books are all up to date and contain all the information you are ever going to need about wine.
