The restaurant of the delightful bijou Hotel Rural Casona Santo Domingo is the setting for a special food fest until August 7.

30.07.2010 - Their chef, Joachim Van Wambeke has designed a five course meal, perfectly accompanied and balanced with the best wines the Valle de Güímar can offer. To tickle the senses in more ways than one, for this is aphrodisiac gastronomy. As a starter, Love Nest - a selection of the best fresh vegetables from the area with a dipping sauce of dill, horseradish and yoghurt. The second course is a blend of clams, mussels, giant prawns and scallops in a basil pesto, wrapped in a crispy wheat coating with a coulis of squid ink. A hot bloody Mary cocktail is accompanied by spicy clams and followed by Iberian fillet steak stuffed with mango chutney, bathed with an oyster sauce and served with wild rice. To top off the feast, there is “an orgy” of the most exuberant of the tropical fruit that the valley can provide served with a cascade of hot chocolate sauce. The wines suggested are: Vino Afrutado de Vega las Cañas 2009, Vino Blando Seco Vidueño de Contiempo 2009 (Agrocanarias and Valle de Güímar 2010 gold medal winner), Vino Blanco Seco El Borujo 2009 (Alhóndiga 2010 silver medal winner), Vino Tinto Barrica de Viña Melosar 2009 and Espumoso Brut Nature de Brumas de Ayosa (Agrocanarias gold medal and Alhóndiga 2010 bronze award winner). As ever when you are not eating in the capital or major tourist areas the prices are very reasonable with the full food menu at just €20 and the wines an optional €8 per person. Service is excellent and the company motto is, “we greet clients, we say goodbye to friends”. All guests will receive an invitation for a guided visit to the Bodega Arca de Vitis and a free tasting in addition to entry in a free draw for a weekend for two in the Hotel Rural Casona Santo Domingo. Those who wish to complement their meal with an overnight stay will be offered special discounts. Lunch is served between 1pm and 4pm and supper from 8pm to 11pm, Monday to Saturday.
