The unique and marvellous variety of Canarian potatoes is again the protagonist in this event which will take place at the Hotel Baobab Suites in Costa Adeje on October 30 and 31, where one of their luxurious suites will, that night, be converted into an upscale restaurant to host the event.

Gastronomic consultants FrackChefs chose Baobab for the premiere of this event and will later tour the Islands and the peninsula to continue to show Canarian produce and Canarian cooking at its best.  Dolores García from La Cocina de Dolores will feature as the taster for the evening.  She is an expert in potatoes and will be taking those present through the distinctions of some very special varieties, in a golden farewell to some amazing tubers which are now coming to their season’s end and will no longer be available until the new harvest next May.

8 potatoes, 8 chefs, 8 dishes will take the stage from 7.30pm at the end of October on the chosen days and take privileged guests by the hand to show them in detail the incredible variety of potatoes from the Island, far beyond the everyday ‘papa’.  This time, the surroundings will be very special, a luxury suite at Baobab with a fabulous terrace and spectacular views.

This get-together aims to pay tribute to one of the most quality products of the Canaries, one which Michelin-starred chefs take home in their luggage, the Canarian potato, with the vowed intention of preserving its history and tradition and, “Give them the importance they deserve”, explained Chef Pau Bermejo, joint owner along with Andrea Bernardi and Fernanda Fuentes of the gastronomic consultant company FrackChef.

The programme of the evenings is designed as an enlightening experience, a show-and-tell tasting, where easy-going diners savour each dish and learn about the potatoes they are savouring.  Dolores García, who is so enviously knowledgeable about the whole field, will fill diners in about the history of each tuber and even about aspects of their cultivation.  This promises to be a true gastronomic and cultural experience.

The chefs for the tasting evenings provide a luxury turnout and are all big names in cuisine as Head Chefs or owners of some of the most prestigious restaurants.  Along with Pau Bermejo, the chef of Hotel Baobab Suites and his associate Andrea Bernardi, co-owner of Restaurant Nómada Gastro Aula Bar in El Sauzal, will be part of Pau’s top and very professional team – Jonay Darias and Kensei Hama.  The hotel will also have three very prestigious invited guest chefs, Spanish gourmet tapas champion Jorge Bosch, Enrique Martín from El Huerto de Juan Rana in Granada and Braulio Simancas from the Las Aguas restaurant in Bahía del Duque.  The evening will begin with a pioneering ‘cocktail’ of the Papa Bonita variety, offered by a young cocktail specialist from the BahíaBeach.

Participation in these classic, unmissable and unrepeatable events for gourmets is just €59 per person.  There are only 80 places available so reserve yours now by calling Hotel Baobab Suites at 822 070 033 or send an email to
