The man was sentenced to 10 years by the courts in Las Palmas

23.11.2009 - Cristobal Pérez, 62, was convicted on multiple counts of abuse after the court re­jected his version that he had been framed by his wife’s family in revenge for his affair with another woman. 

The abuse of the young grand-daughter took place over a four-year period up to the middle of 2008, when the girl, then aged 14, told her parents she had been subjected to indecent as­saults on many occasions. Pérez initially confessed to the abuse when first quizzed last year but changed his version in court.

However, the judges ruled that the girl’s version was “entirely credible” and de­scribed the defendant’s ac­count as “incoherent and full of inconsistencies”.
