 Daily news from the Canaries and the islands' biggest English language newspaper on-line Calle Perojo ‘Chinatown’ fears grow Residents of a district of Las Palmas say an incident which led to police being called to a local café is a further reflection of the conversion of their area into a mini Chinatown.  Police rushed to the scene to quell the disturbance, which locals say could have turned very nasty without their intervention. “Calle Perojo is losing its identity because of the massive numbers of Chinese people who have moved in or spend all their time here, many of them playing the fruit machines in bars and cafés all day.
