15.05.2015 - A large turn-out for the annual offering to the island’s patron, the Virgin of the Pines in Teror, which is also used by the Indian community as a Thanksgiving Day to express its gratitude to the Canaries, saw 10,000 kilos of assorted foodstuffs, including rice, pasta, oil, milk, lentils and cocoa, donated to the local authorities and church representatives for distribution to families who are suffering hardship in Teror and other parts of the island.

Gran Canaria’s Bishop, Francisco Cases, paid tribute to the work done by the Indian Community, much of it quietly and without recognition, to put something back into the society that has welcomed them into its midst for decades.
