A police spokesman said that the decision to fire the gun, which is normally used for hunting, into the air three times was “highly irresponsible” and could have had serious consequences. The fan faces a fine of up to €6000 and the loss of his firearms licence for two years. “Bullets or pellets fired into the air can reach speeds of 1km per second on their ascent. They then turn and fall back down again at high speed. Someone could have been hurt” said the spokesman.
