Socas Canarias player Jakim Donaldson came within a whisker of breaking the LEB league’s all-time rating record with an outstanding performance against Melilla.
Jakim Donaldson almost broke the league’s scoring record 16.03.2008
- The 25-year-old was annoyed at his showing the previous week against Los Barrios, when he could only manage two rebounds in the entire game, and Melilla bore the brunt of his anger in the Ríos Tejera stadium. He scored 26 points and captured a league record of 26 rebounds, while also managing five blocks and drawing seven fouls. His total rating for the match was 60 points, just one short of the record set almost a decade ago by Eric Cuthrell.
Melilla were also on the receiving end of an inspired Levi Rost, who scored 22 points in the 92-74 win, the La Laguna side’s first in six games. Meanwhile, Tenerife Rural’s Antwain Barbour broke something else during his side’s deserved win away to Huelva. The Kentucky point guard smashed in a slam dunk with such force that he broke the ring, causing the game to be held up while a replacement was found and fitted. Barbour continued his recent run of scoring feats by netting 32 points against Huelva to keep Tenerife in touch with the league leaders.
