Juan Manuel lent some of his souvenirs La Orotava - 24.11.2007
- A superb collection of Barça souvenirs, property of Juan Manuel Gómez Gónzález, was on display for the day and has now moved to the San Agustín cultural centre for two weeks. An ex professional player, Gómez started his collection after retiring injured from CD Tenerife and has souvenirs of a wide range of top clubs, although Barça is his favourite. Many items are signed by present and past footballing greats. He is a big fan of the regular reunions (Bakus) of the fan clubs, “it’s not just about football. I’ve made friends from all over the world, in Brazil, California and Japan,” he told us. The council came in for hearty praise for their help in organising this VII Canarian Baku of Barcelona fans. Mayor, Isaac Valencia, thanked the club for enhancing the image of Spain abroad and the Barcelona Vice President gave his thanks for the welcome they had received saying they were very satisfied with Tenerife and promising to return.
