UD Las Palmas
Bulgarian flop
Las Palmas have released Bulgarian Spas Delev, who was hailed on arriving in Gran Canaria as the solution to the club’s goal-scoring problems.

19.02.2014 - Delev, signed last summer on a free transfer after leaving CSKA Sofia, turned out to be a big disappointment and played a total of just 230 minutes in the first half of the season.  Manager Sergio Lobera was keen to offload him to free up a berth for a new striker and, although Delev was on a two-year contract, he is thought to have agreed to waive his rights in exchange for the freedom to return to his home country to look for another club.  Goals continue to be a problem for Las Palmas, particularly at home, where recent results have derailed their bid to rise to the top of the table and into a direct promotion spot.  The islanders have the third worst home record in the league although the poor showings have been remedied to some extent by wins on the road.
