1 There are two major trends this year. One is the smoky-eyed Kate Moss look, and the other is the more conservative, lighter face with dramatic and strong lips. Go for deep red lips, or try a more 80s effect with a flash of neon pink. Don’t try to emphasise smoky eyes and strong lips together - if the eyes are strong, keep the lips muted, and vice versa.
- Now that you’ve chosen your look, it’s time to discover how to create the perfect transformation.
First, cleanse your skin thoroughly, and take a relaxing bath or shower.
2 Many people are rather heavy handed when they put their make-up on at night. Try to find a place to work with lots of light, preferably natural, then you won’t overdo your bronzer or blusher. Be sparing with your foundation and disguise any blemishes with a concealer. For smoky eyes, take a black eyeliner and line the rim of the eye. Next, gently pat a creamy shadow colour base in dark brown or grey - around the edge of the lower and upper lids, with your fingertips. This look is meant to appear smudged and smoky so you don’t have to be too precise. Finish off with a couple of coats of brown or black mascara.
Add a little colour to your cheeks with your favourite bronzer or peachy powder.
Since the eyes are prominent with this look, it’s best to keep the lips muted. Dab a little colour over your lips and then use some clear lip gloss over the top.
3 Go for daring and dramatic lips if you don’t think the smoky-eye option will suit you. This look particularly suits those with very pale complexions. Tone down everything else on your face, run some clear mascara over your lashes and go for a gorgeous, killer red lipstick or a hot pink for a more modern look. Keep your hydrating spray handy to fix your make-up and give your skin a lift through the evening.
