Tenerife based fashion label recently picked up an award given by Club Unesco as part of their ongoing campaign to protect and promote ancient African civilisations.
- Lucía de Su have used rectangular fabric shapes as the base of their collection, with kangas in eye-catching colours and designs. The word kanga comes from the old Bantu (Kiswahili) verb ku-kanga to wrap or close. This is a garment worn by women and occasionally by men throughout Eastern Africa. It is a piece of printed cotton fabric and usually very colorful. In the designs by Lucía de Su, each piece carries a proverb in Ki-swahili, a form used by women to let people know how they are feeling.
