Tenerife Football Club has been given the all-clear to play in the 2nd Division this season after settling the massive debts owed to players.
00.00.0000 - For a second summer in a row, the club kept supporters on tenterhooks as rumours grew that it did not have the funds to lodge the required 1.6 million euros with the League to clear wage arrears, a condition for continued participation in the category. With the prospect of relegation looming large, the money was transferred hours before the deadline expired yesterday evening. Chairman Victor Ascanio thanked local savings bank CajaCanarias for its help and also praised early purchasers of season tickets answering the SOS to raise funds.
