09.10.2014 - The council’s economic data unit has calculated that the total revenue for the island's 67 hotels during that month was around €35 million.  The sector had already enjoyed bumper occupancy rates as the rise in visitor numbers continued well into the second half of the year.  The revenue figure is significantly higher than for the same month in 2013 (€29 million) and brings the running total for 2014 to €228 million, 60 million more than for the first eight months of 2013.

Four and 5-star hotels had a particularly good August, with the high demand enabling them to earn an average of €84 per night, per room.
