15.05.2007 - A few weeks ago our island welcomed film makers, advertising companies and VIPs galore to the Tenerife International Film and Advertising Festival, president Carl Tooney, which was held at the Plaza del Duque commercial centre and Hotel Gran Tacande in Costa Adeje. Designed to promote movie making, from the smallest independent films to the most popular English and foreign language films, it is the second time that this up and coming Film Festival has been held in Tenerife, having also taken place in Paris, France. As you would expect from such a prestigious gala event, many movers and shakers from the film and advertising industry were present, the red carpet was rolled out, the champagne flowed in abundance and the speeches were tearful! Attendees also had the opportunity to taste a new drink, Ice Tropez, dubbed as The Party Drink of Fashion TV. There was not an Oscar in sight, however, as here in Tenerife we have our own version of the Academy Award - The Teide Award, Tenerife´s highly coveted movie award. This aptly named award is given in recognition of outstanding achievements made in film making to those who have striven to reach the pinnacle of their profession.
