Hiker finds dead dogs in Gran Canaria
Daily News07.01.2018 - Last Wednesday, a hiker found a sack on a trail at Llanos de María Rivera in which five, in part decayed dog carcasses had been deposited. The stench had made him aware of the sack. He informed the Local Police in Santa Brígida, who handed the case over to the Guardia Civil environmental unit, Seprona. more...
Daily News07.01.2018 - The award winning photographer Joaquin Gutiérrez Fernández, who was Andalusian-born and adopted as a Canarian, will only be exhibiting the photographs of sharks, whales and crocodiles he has taken all over the world at the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre until January 12. The exhibition has been called Mares del Mundo, and it is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 10pm and weekends from 9am to 8pm. more...
Daily News06.01.2018 - The Directorate General for Security and Emergencies has issued a pre-alert for strong winds and high waves for Saturday January 6 in all of the Canary Islands. The alert applies from 6am for winds which could reach speeds of 30 to 60 km/h, with gusts of 60 to 90 km/h. From 1pm on Saturday, another pre-alert applies, regarding rough seas. Waves could reach 3 to 5 metres in height, and higher waves have not been ruled out. The biggest waves are likely to affect the northern and western sides of the islands. In Adeje, they arrive at the football ground by helicopter at 6pm and will be greeted by hundreds of families. They will also be symbolically presented with the master key to the town by the mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, with which for one night only, they can enter every house in the town to place the presents beneath the Christmas tree. more...
Daily News05.01.2018 - The production of the arrival of the Magi has been celebrated in Garachico in the north west of the island for over 50 years. This makes it one of the oldest in the island. Also this year, more than 120 residents lend new life to the biblical history. It starts at about 6.30pm in the district of Las Cruces. From there, the kings ride on their camels to Garachico. Dog found towing a bicycle
Daily News05.01.2018 - A woman who was driving home to Tamaimo last night, was surprised when she spotted a dog tied to a bicycle on the road. The labrador was pulling the bike behind him.
The woman decided to inform the Local Police who caught the dog and found out that he had a microchip. At present, they are taking care of informing the owners and finding out why the dog was tied to a bicycle.

Daily News04.01.2018 - On the evening of January 5, over 600 people will make sure that the magic of Christmas arrives with the Three Kings. More than 25,000 spectators are expected on the three kilometre long route that the procession will pass through on its way to the Cultural Centre. The Kings will arrive in Los Cristianos on a 19th century Portuguese schooner. The spectacle starts at 8pm and roads will be closed during the procession. more...
Daily News04.01.2018 - The Three Kings of Puerto de la Cruz will be welcomed by the British School Children's Choir at Castillo San Felipe January 5 at 7 pm. Afterwards, the large procession will continue, with six colourful decorated carriages to the town hall in Plaza de Europa where Mayor Lope Afonso will await the Kings of the Orient. To make sure that nobody misses anything, the spectacle will be broadcast on large screens. Some streets in the town centre will be subject to restrictions, parking bans or closures from 5pm onwards. more...
