British couple found dead in Playa de Las Américas apartment
Postmortem results on the bodies of a British couple found in an apartment in Playa de Las Américas are expected later today. The macabre find was made yesterday morning in the apartment at the Residencial Los Cardones complex in Avenida Santiago Puig.

Playa de Las Américas - 21.09.2010 - Police were alerted by neighbours who complained of a foul smell from the apartment. The couple, aged 57 and 69, were found in separate rooms when police broke into the premises. They are thought to have died several days ago. Even though initial reports indicate the deaths were not suspicious, neighbours in the shocked complex say a substantial amount of blood was visible at the scene. It is thought the man, who reportedly suffered from a serious illness, died after falling and striking his head against a table in the sitting room. The Foreign Office in London has confirmed it is 'aware of the deaths and is offering assistance to next of kin'. No further details have been released. The couple had been living in Tenerife for around five years, according to staff at the complex.
