If you are wondering why Los Cristianos looks so pretty this month, here's the answer. The Arona council has spent €550,000 on Christmas street lighting and activities. The lights were officially turned on in Los Cristianos on December 1st and will remain so until January 7th.
- Arona's councillor for electrification, Ramón Garcia, indicated that the lights contained materials which permitted power saving and that, of course, they comply with the Law of the Skies. Mayor, José Alberto González Reverón commented that, due to the economic crisis, the government group had opted to concentrate the festive campaign on the most popular commercial areas, to encourage people to shop there. He added, “we want not only residents, but visitors too, to shop in our borough”. The title of this year's campaign is, 'Nos vemos en Arona, porque Arona lo tiene todo' (we'll see you in Arona, because Arona has it all).
