Arona withdraws beach signs as sunbed controversy escalates

line
Arona - 19.04.2013 - News of the ban on other users occupying a large area of the popular beach prompted a furious reaction by the public and the council has opted to pull down the English and Spanish signs on the grounds that they were "too aggressive". The firm awarded the tender to hire up to 1200 sunbeds on the busy beach had requested a clearly demarcated exclusive section which would allow hirers approximately 8 square metres of space each, with no towel-users able to sit in the spaces in between. Arona says it is "looking at alternatives" to protect the rights of the firm after the signs drew so much adverse reaction and even the threat of legal action by beach-goers.
