British boy's sea lion scare in Tenerife makes UK and Spanish headlines
The case of a young British holidaymaker who was attacked by a sea lion in a Tenerife wildlife park has been featuring prominently in the news here and in the UK.

Tenerife - 05.05.2015 - Hertford boy Ronnie Green was celebrating his tenth birthday with a visit to the Jungle Park outside Los Cristianos and was having "the time of his life" rubbing noses with one of the sea lions by the side of the pool before it turned on him and tore a chunk of flesh from his left leg as his parents looked on helplessly through a glass window. His mother Vanessa described in various papers how she and her husband feared the worst when the attack happened. "God knows what might have happened if the sealion had gone for his face or neck. He was very lucky" Vanessa told the Daily Mirror, adding that she was disappointed at the lack of assistance provided by the zoo's personnel. The youngster was taken by taxi to a nearby hospital to have the ugly gash in his leg cleaned and treated and has been receiving follow-up treatment since his return home. The headline-making incident, five years after the death of a trainer of a killer whale in Tenerife's Loro Parque zoo, has rekindled calls for a review of holiday attractions involving swimming with captive animals.
