Gang swindled tourists out of €436,000
In the south of Gran Canaria, the police have busted an organisation consisting of 12 persons who managed electronics shops. They are accused of systematically swindling elderly foreign tourists out of a total of €436,000 in the form of extra payments taken from their credit cards. In their shops, they sold tablets and computers at very reasonable prices. Under the pretext of having to update the equipment, they delayed the sales until the day before the customers' departure.

17.03.2017 - When they completed the transaction, they would swipe the credit card several times, so that the amount to be paid was also loaded several times. In this way, the band fraudulently gained €436,000 out of the €893,487 that they had intended to gain.  One of the gang members even followed the tourists to their hotel to make sure they were leaving.  The victims usually only noticed the multiple payment when they were at home in their own country.  Their credit card account revealed all.  When they complained that the payment had been taken more than once, the perpetrators apologised and said that it was a mistake.  Persecution from abroad was too costly for most of the victims.
