Las Teresitas Mirador thieves caught
Last Thursday, Local Police officers based in Santa Cruz, working with Unipol, recently arrested a 54 year-old man and two women aged 40 and 33 years during a road check in Avenida Anaga in Santa Cruz. The three are accused of robbing tourists at the viewpoint overlooking the beach, Mirador de Las Teresitas. The man had a lengthy criminal record.

19.04.2017 - The three parked their yellow Citröen Cactus in close proximity to typical tourist rental cars.  While the two women behaved as normal, the man broke into the cars and removed cash and valuables. The officers were searching specifically for the trio, who were thought to be responsible for several car break-ins and thefts.  The moment the officers stopped the vehicle, the man tried to hide a pair of scissors. A credit card belonging to a German person was found on one of the women.  Between them, they were carrying €208 in cash, and cash in other currencies, a high-quality telephone, a camera as well documents belonging to two German tourists.

Curiously, the police also stopped a vehicle driven by victims of these robberies, and some of the items found belonged to them.  They had not yet realised that the items had been stolen.
