Yesterday evening at around 9.15pm, a 52-year-old woman from La Laguna died in an accident in the borough of Los Realejos. She lost control of her vehicle which broke through the crash barrier and fell from the 100 metre high cliffs. The car overturned several times, plundered through the bushes, until it finally crashed through the railings and came to rest on the beach. The driver who was alone in the car, died. No-one else was injured in the accident.
© Bomberos de Tenerife17.08.2017 - As the car came rolling down the cliffs, people on the beach had time to reach safety. Only a quarter of an hour later, the open-air summer cinema on the beach was set to begin. This activity was cancelled until the weekend. Today, council technicians are assessing how much damage the accident has caused and whether there is a danger of rockfalls. Then they will check the road.
