Possible fraud case in Tacoronte
The Guardia Civil based in Tacoronte are currently investigating a 40-year-old woman from Santa Cruz for possible fraud. The woman was the confidante of a couple who suggested that they obtain a personal loan from a private lender in Las Palmas. For this purpose, the pair issued an extensive notarial power of attorney. She then took out a loan of €51,600 and guaranteed it with the unsuspecting couple's apartment. When the payments were not received, the lender took legal action against them.

10.09.2017 - Once again, the confidante intervened and appeased the lender by creating a lease agreement for this apartment, thanks to the power of attorney, agreeing on a monthly rent of €300.  Only when an eviction suit was lodged did the couple become suspicious and report the case.  The police investigation allowed their eviction to be suspended until the procedure had been clarified.  The police are currently trying to find out what happened to the money and whether this is actually a fraud case.
