Tourists found a maltreated dog
Holidaymakers discovered a poor, maltreated dog in the area of Soo in Lanzarote and took it to the Huella a Huella shelter in Teguise. The dog, named Billy, could hardly see, had barely any teeth and abcesses all over his body. The veterinarian diagnosed that the animal was in a very poor condition and his injuries indicated years of maltreatment and continuous neglect.

10.09.2017 - The check also revealed that Billy was wearing a chip. The registered owner claimed to have given the animal to a family member long ago without having reported the change of ownership.  The current owner wanted to collect the dog, but that was not allowed.  Billy is now being taken care of at the shelter, while his owner was reported to the Guardia Civil by the animal protection unit SEPRONA for animal cruelty.
