Radar catches 194 speeding motorists
Last week, the Local Police in Santa Cruz announced the results of the latest radar surveillance campaign carried out between August 21 and 25. Some 5,535 vehicles were inspected and 194 drivers were caught speeding. Interestingly, 61 per cent of speeding cases were detected at night. The front runner of the offenders was a driver who was doing 112 km/h through the tunnel in the Avenida Tres de Mayo. One driver was spotted on the San Andrés road at 101 km/h and a third at 98 km/h on the Avenida Hespérides. Luckily these are all minor offences.

10.09.2017 - During next week, the speeding tickets will be delivered. The councillor for security, Zaída González, emphasised that these are preventive measures that have been implemented nationwide to increase road safety and to draw attention to the danger of speeding.  Radar checks are carried out regularly in Santa Cruz, but the Local Police announce this beforehand via Twitter @PoliciaLocalSC.
