Extorsion by false police officer
At the beginning of August, a 40-year-old man intimidated a Norwegian tourist in Patalavaca, Gran Canaria, pretending to be a police officer collecting debts he had accrued in Norway. He threatened the tourist and forced him to go to a cash dispenser in Arguineguín where he had to withdraw €500 and hand it over.

12.09.2017 - About two weeks later, another victim was relieved of €700 by the same method.  In Puerto Rico, a tourist reported that she had been threatened with a knife, and cash and a mobile were stolen.  The investigation revealed that the suspect had been helped by his 33-year-old partner.  Both had previous criminal records. The couple were arrested at the Gran Canaria airport before they could leave for Amsterdam.  The judge ordered provisional prison for the man, and provisional freedom for his partner.
