Island ring road neglected
Dead animals, garbage, empty containers and the remains from car accidents left on the island ring road are just some of the criticisms raised by the Guía de Isora council, led by mayor Pedro Martín, against the Canarian government. The road requires more and regular maintenance and cleaning work on the stretch between Santiago del Teide and Adeje, which is used by around 30,000 vehicles every day.

10.10.2017 - Complaints are increasing, especially around Fonsalía. The Canarian government is called upon to hand over its responsibility for the road to the Island Council.  The mayor explained, "If we send our own employees and something happens to them, we have a serious insurance problem. We are not actually allowed to use them there".  The stretch between Piedra Hincada and Vera de Erques poses a risk especially for motorcyclists, as due to the lack of retention, wind or passing vehicles often blow the decorative stones from the garden areas onto the road.
