Earth tremors in Tenerife
Early this morning the National Geographic Institute, IGN, recorded an earth tremor of four on the Richter scale at a depth of 25 kilometres in the sea. About 20 minutes later, there was another of 1.5 on the scale at a depth of 18 kilometres. The public noticed the seismic movements in Las Chafiras, Los Cristianos, Valle San Lorenzo, Buzanada (Arona), Guía de Isora, Granadilla and Adeje.
The seismic activity in La Palma, with over 150 tremors over the weekend, 68 of which were between 1.5 and 2.9 degrees on the Richter scale, stopped yesterday morning at around 7am. There's nothing to worry about, as seismic activity is quite normal in volcanic regions.
