Baby scalded in domestic accident
An 11-month-old baby was admitted to the Hospital General in Breña Alta, La Palma, with severe burns over the weekend. At around 2.30pm on Sunday, the Garafía medical centre in the north of the island reported that an infant was being treated for first- and second-degree burns. A pot of hot water had been poured over the boy's body at his home in Cueva de Agua. The area is known as a retreat for hippies. How the accident occurred is still unclear.

17.10.2017 - The Guardia Civil are investigating the incident.  The child was stabilised in the medical centre and taken to the football ground in Tijarafe, where a helicopter was waiting.  On arrival, he was transferred to an ambulance which was escorted to the island hospital by the police.  Meanwhile, the University Hospital in Tenerife had activated a helicopter to bring the burn victim to Tenerife if necessary, but the injuries were able to be treated in La Palma, so the transfer was not necessary.
