Wind Warning from midnight
The Canary Islands Government's Directorate-General for Security and Emergencies has issued a wind gust warning from midnight onwards. Wind gusts between 30 and 50 kilometres per hour are expected with gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour at certain points. For the time being, this warning applies to Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, El Hierro, La Gomera, the west of La Palma and the metropolitan area of Tenerife. The public are asked to take appropriate precautions.

05.12.2017 - Preventive measures:

Close doors and windows to prevent draughts that could cause windows to break.

Remove pots and other objects from balconies and terraces that could fall onto the road.

Check your house to see if there are balcony or crumbling facade parts that could break off and cause damage.

Do not go on a journey and do not go camping.

Avoid driving by car if possible and drive with extreme caution if necessary. Use public transport.

Motorcycles and transporters that are prone to the wind are in danger of overturning.
