Hiker finds dead dogs in Gran Canaria
Last Wednesday, a hiker found a sack on a trail at Llanos de María Rivera in which five, in part decayed dog carcasses had been deposited. The stench had made him aware of the sack. He informed the Local Police in Santa Brígida, who handed the case over to the Guardia Civil environmental unit, Seprona.

07.01.2018 - Due to the degree of decomposition, the police assumed that the animals had been lying there for several days.  None of the animals had a chip so identification of the owner was impossible.  The Police are therefore looking for possible witnesses to this improper disposal.  When a pet dies, the keeper is obliged to have it cremated or buried in an approved place.  It is not possible to leave animals to rot anywhere.
