Two people drowned in sea rescue attempt
On Sunday lunchtime, two people drowned in the sea in the Charco de La Laja area of San Juan de la Rambla. An emergency call was received at 1.37pm which reported four people in the open sea in distress. A group that stayed near the natural pool saw a man drifting in the water. Two men and a woman jumped in to save him, but they also ended up in trouble. When the emergency helicopter arrived, the crew found two lifeless bodies floating in the water and two people struggling to remain afloat.
