The week begins with an alert for strong winds
The week starts with a yellow alert issued by Aemet for today, starting at 12 noon. The wind will start off northerly and turn to north easterly during the day. In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, wind speeds of up to 65 kilometres per hour are expected. In Gran Canaria and La Gomera, they could reach 40 to 60 kilometres per hour on the coasts, and up to 110 kilometres per hour at high altitudes. On the coasts of Tenerife, winds of up to 70 kilometres per hour are expected, and in the mountains up to 120 kilometres per hour.

15.01.2018 - On Tuesday, the alert level is increased to orange, with winds expected of up to 90 kilometres per hour even on the coasts. The wind is likely to be accompanied by rain, expected to fall as sleet from 1,800 metres upwards.  The public are advised to take all necessary safety precautions, and not to put themselves at unnecessary risk.
