Flights and ferries cancelled
The shipping company Naviera Armas cancelled the crossings between Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura as well as between Tenerife and Gran Canaria yesterday between 11am and 4pm. The regional airline Binter also cancelled the flights from Tenerife to La Gomera for safety reasons. The night before, an aircraft operating between the two islands had to turn around. The reason for both were the bad weather conditions.

17.01.2018 - Wind speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour were recorded, mainly in Tenerife, and waves towered up to four metres high in the sea.  While tomorrow morning the weather is expected to calm down, the yellow alert level will be limited to the western province of Tenerife, but the wind is expected to pick up again on Thursday when all islands can expect more gusts.  A yellow alert has been issued for all islands for Thursday.
