World Wildlife Day at Loro Parque
World Wildlife Day will be celebrated worldwide on March 3. This year, the organisation is focusing its attention on the large feline predators, whose populations are declining in the wild. The zoo in Puerto de la Cruz wants to take part in this action and will focus on its own wild cat ambassadors: Lions, jaguars and white tigers. The Angolan lion, represented by Simba, Malika and Sarabi, is threatened with extinction in nature. The jaguars at the park, Negra and Gulliver, are classified as 'almost threatened'. The white tiger, represented by Yangyu and Linmao, is threatened by man's hunting, especially because of its exceptionally beautiful fur. In the park they walk daily, in a very majestic way, over the Tiger Island.
