Another rescue from the Barranco de Masca
It almost sounds like a repetition of a story that took place in February, when a group of German hikers had to spend a night in a cave in the Barranco de Masca due to bad weather, before they could be rescued. On Sunday evening, the Guardia Civil's mountain rescue team, GREIM, volunteer firefighters from Santiago del Teide and firefighters from San Miguel de Abona set off on a mission to the Barranco de Masca.

13.03.2018 - The rescuers reached the man and his companion on foot, then they carried him on a stretcher to the foot of the canyon, on the coast.  Due to the bad weather with high waves and the nature of the injury, the group stayed overnight in a nearby cave.  On Monday morning at 7.45am, the two walkers and the rescuers were flown by helicopter to the football pitch in Puerto de Santiago.
