Scabies alarm at a primary school
A scabies alarm was raised last week at Bethencourt y Molina primary school in the Barranco Grande district of Santa Cruz, Tenerife. The school management informed the parents that a case of scabies had been discovered in the first year class. She recommended that parents have their children examined by a pediatrician to rule out infection. Fortunately, no other child was infected.

21.03.2018 - The highly itchy disease is caused by tiny mites that like to settle in the skin folds of the feet and hands.  The disease spreads particularly quickly and easily where many people gather together.  A school offers exactly these conditions.  Fortunately, however, thanks to the quick action of the school management, an outbreak was prevented.  No other cases were reported among classmates or other school children.
