Ferry suffers engine failure
The Volcán de Tijarafe ferry, owned by the shipping company Naviera Armas arrived on Monday evening at about 10pm after a delay of over two hours. The reason was the failure of a drive motor during the crossing from Gran Canaria to Tenerife. The marine rescue services based in Las Palmas sent a tugboat as a precautionary measure to help the ship so that the ferry could be pulled into the harbour if necessary. However, its efforts were not needed. The ferry moved ahead on half power, but independently to Tenerife. The necessary repair work was carried out in the port.
