International Penguin Day
Today, Loro Parque commemorates the International Penguin Day, with the aim of drawing visitors' attention to the situation of animals in the wild. Various awareness raising activities will be developed in the park until next weekend. The date coincides with the migration of the Adelaide penguins from Antarctica to the north. This has a special revelance because 13 of the 18 existing penguin species are currently threatened with extinction. The threats they face are very diverse: overfishing, climate change, marine pollution or uncontrolled tourism are just a few of the factors.

25.04.2018 - Although the current data on the population of the endangered species is alarming, the experts are looking positively into the future, as awareness of species conservation is increasing and the marine areas being protected are becoming more and more acute. The role of the bodies working for species conservation in the wild, such as Loro Parque or organisations like Spenisco, is fundamental to this change.
