Weekend traffic accidents
On Sunday morning, the Local Police from Santa Cruz arrested a driver from La Laguna, who drove his vehicle over several barriers into the pedestrian area and hit a senior citizen. Instead of giving first aid to the woman, he drove off. Hours later his vehicle was located in La Laguna and the driver's alcohol test proved positive. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run driving, failure to provide assistance and resisting the authorities.

21.05.2018 - At Valleseco in Gran Canaria, a 55-year-old man was so badly injured at dawn on Saturday that one leg had to be amputated.   A driver, whose car left the road on Saturday on the TF-1 near Guía de Isora, had more luck.  The car somersaulted and caught fire.  However, the driver was able to free himself from the car in time.  He was taken to Hospiten Sur with moderate injuries.
