Driving licences sold without a test
Two people were arrested last week in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for fraud, forgery of documents and abuse of office. They were convicted of offering driving licences on social networks without any practical or theoretical examination and selling the licences for €300 to €1,200. Four other people are still under investigation for similar offences.
The fraudsters operated through the social networks and attached the DGT logo to all messages in order to gain more credibility. They gave instructions by mobile phone on how to transfer the first instalment so that the application could be made. In one case where the buyer became suspicious, they issued a temporary, fake driver's licence in his name.
