Two drowned in high waves
Big waves rolled towards the Canary Islands coasts on Wednesday, meaning it was not good weather for bathing. Nevertheless, people still went into the water and rescue missions were necessary. They were too late for two people on Tuesday. A 35-year-old man died windsurfing off the Playa de Costa Calma in Fuerteventura. The lifeguards took the man ashore and tried to revive him. Yet they could not bring him back to life.

13.07.2018 - On the beach of Maspalomas in Gran Canaria, a 30-year-old was in distress at sea, and was pulled out of the water by helicopter.  Even in this case, the resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.  In addition, two people were rescued from drowning at Tazacorte in La Palma and at Arinaga in Gran Canaria.  Furthermore, a false report about the return of the algae carpet or a possible oil spill caused a stir.
