Girl rescued at the last minute
Lifeguards from the Playa de La Arena in Puerto Santiago rescued a little four-year-old girl from Poland from drowning on Monday. They watched the child play unsupervised on shore. Suddenly a wave came that pulled the child into the water and away from the beach within a very short time. The lifeguards managed to save the child at the last minute. She was in shock. The lifeguards located the parents about 60 metres away, sleeping on sunbeds. They hadn't noticed that their child had almost drowned. The lifeguards pointed out that only last Friday five bathers had to be rescued from the water where a red flag was flying because of high waves. Four were minors.
